Fall Work Party and Community Meeting - September 11, 2021& Tree Work Scheduling

On September 11, 2021 we are planning to have our community work party and meeting.   We will NOT be having a POT LUCK due to continuing concerns related to Covid.   We look forward to seeing everyone and having opportunity to meet some of our new neighbors.   Remember, those who participate in the work party will receive $50.00 off your dues for the coming year.

Plan:

9:00 am    Signup at beach for various work projects for the day including:

                    1)    Clean up and repairs at water reservoir and road leading to the pump house

                    2)    Cutting back vegetation on the roads (Baja Vista/Alta Vista/Marine View Dr and North Shore)

                    3)    Cleaning the bathrooms and mailboxes

                    4)    Trimming plants at beach (Roddy and round about planter)

                    5)    Other projects as identified

We will be working until about 1:00 pm or until the work is done.  We will return to the beach area at 2:30 pm for a community meeting.  Please plan to bring your own chairs and respect social distancing.

We are also coordinating with a local tree trimmer to do some work around the community.  This will not be done at the work party but rather at scheduled dates in the next few months.    Payment for the work will be the responsibility of the property owner however we will be assisting with the coordination. If you have any tree work you would like done on your property please send me a text message to (360) 710-7169 by September 11, 2021 letting me know what you would like to have done.  I will coordinate with the tree trimmer, have him give you a price for the work and schedule a date.

It would be great to have an idea of how many people will be here for the work party so we can plan the work accordingly.  Please send a text to let me know you'll be here   (360) 710-7169.

We look forward to seeing all who can attend.

WATER RESERVOIR EXTREMELY LOW - PLEASE KEEP ANY WATER USE TO MINIMAL

Unfortunately on this HOT weekend our water levels within the reservoir are extremely low.   We have contacted Top Dog Drilling who maintains our water system and are waiting to hear back for him to troubleshoot the issue.

PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY UNNECESSARY WATER until further notice.  We will let you know when the issue has been resolved.

If you are in need of bottled water please contact Gayle at (360) 710-7169.

Thanks everyone.

SPRING WORK PARTY - CANCELLED

Spring is always such a great time of year at Shorehills.   Gathering as a community in the Spring and Fall to maintain the community and reconnect has for years been a welcomed tradition.   While definitely a tradition we hope to continue, we are cancelling the Spring 2021 Work Party and Community Meeting in an effort to support the health and safety of all.

There will NOT be an automatic $50.00 work party credit given off of your dues; however, if you see a community maintenance project you would like to take on as an individual or as a family project during the month of May,  please feel free to give me a call (360) 275-4039 to discuss the possibility of receiving a deduction in your dues for taking on the project.  It would need to be preapproved and be of benefit to the entire community rather than just your own property.

For all other maintenance that needs to be done we will be hiring out to have necessary work completed.   If there is something you have noticed in need of repair or replacement please let me know.

Pete and Dana will be cleaning the water tanks and reading the water meters.  They will notify property owners of any concerns in excess water usages so that any potential leaks may be explored.   If you have interest in assisting with the reading of the meters please contact Pete or Dana to offer you assistance.   They carry the majority of the load for this task and I am sure any help would be welcomed.  Thanks Pete and Dana.   If it is determined you have a significant leak on your property it is essential to the wellness of our community water system that you repair it IMMEDIATELY.  If it is not repaired and it is determined to be causing a negative impact, your water will be turned off and you will be charged a fee to have it turned back on once repaired.   Please do not turn it back on yourself so as not to damage any water lines or meter connections.   Nick, Dana or Pete are authorized to turn water back on once it has been turned off due to a leak.   If the repair is not made within a reasonable period of time by the property owner, we will have Nick - Top Dog Drilling complete the repair and bill the property owner.   The community maintains the water line to the meter and property owners are responsible for damage or leaks beyond the meter.

Also if you have NOT YET PAID your water bill that was due at the end of March please be sure it is paid by May 15, 2021.  Water bills are sent in February and are paid to Gayle Robbins.   Karen Lau sends out and collects community dues in November of each year.  Each is a separate bill.

Please be sure you are maintaining your dogs and cleaning up after them whenever you are walking them in the community or at the beach.   We have received complaints from property owners of dogs coming onto their property and dog owners not ensuring clean up.  Please be respectful of shared areas and your neighbor's property.

As boating begins remember boats are not to be left tied up to the docks for extended periods of time preventing others from use.   Docks are to be used and shared equally by all.  They are not intended for long term moorage.    Please also do not leave boat trailers blocking parking at the beach but rather return to your property while you are boating.

Again, if you have anything you'd like to post on the blog please let me know.

We look forward to hopefully seeing everyone throughout the summer and at our Fall Work Party and Community Meeting September 11th.    We will catch up with all voting for board member and officers at that time.   Should you desire to become an active member of the board please let me know.

As always, I extend a very special thanks to all the board members who work behind the scenes throughout the year supporting our community.   Please take time to thank them when you have opportunity.  They keep our community functioning effectively for the benefit of everyone.

FALL CLEAN UP & COMMUNITY MEETING CANCELLED DUE TO COVID19

WOW!  We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

We hope you are all doing well and enjoying the amazing summer weather.   We have made the decision to cancel our Fall Community Clean Up and Community Meeting in order to ensure we are doing everything we can to avoid the spreading of COVID 19.

Good news is that you will receive credit off your membership dues as you did in the Spring.  In an effort to keep the community maintenance up-to-date we are requesting that you do what you can as a family to cut the vegetation around your property, clean any ditches and take it upon yourselves to do any maintenance you see that needs attention.

During the first eight months of this year we have also hired some of the larger projects out such as the staining and minor repairs to the dock and piers and doing a portion of the weed-eating, beach maintenance and clearing of vegetation in the entry of the community.  We have also replaced an aging pump in our water system.  If you have recommendations of other projects please let us know.  We intend to have Tim at Lakeshore (who built our dock and piers) give us a bid on doing some additional work on the finger piers within the next few months.

We will also be emailing/mailing out financial reports for your reference within the next couple of weeks.  If you have any questions at all please call or email me.

While we are not meeting as we have the in past, there is additional work happening behind the scenes.  Pete and Dana have done an amazing job developing a data base of information related to our water system and have thereby been able to track down several leaks and advise property owners.   Judy and Karen have continued to ensure dues are collected and the community continues to be updated and informed. Thanks to all our board members for all they do throughout the year.

We welcome Jesse who purchased property on Marine View Drive this summer.    Glad to have you as a member of our community.

Unfortunately our long-time community member Gary Budd passed away this year.   Many of us remember all the years of Gary pulling the docks out for the winter and his amazingly creative art work that brightened up the waterfront.   Treasured memories.   He will be missed.

Judy will be sending out an updating community list to everyone.

If you have anything you'd like to post on the blog please let me know.   It gives us a great way to stay connected, share information and preserve some of our community history.

We look forward to 2021 and hopefully seeing you all in the May.  In the meantime please do all you can to stay safe and healthy and close to those you love.

With Gratitude

Gayle Robbins, President
