New Pier and Dock Project Begins Sept 4th - Work Party & Community Meeting Sept 8th

On September 4th Lakeshore Construction will begin the demolition of our old pier and docks, immediately followed by the construction of a new pier, docks and floats. The project will take approximately two weeks. (Sept. 4th - Sept. 18th) We will be taking photos and posting them on the blog as the project progresses. During that time you will be able to use the beach; however, there will not be any boat access nor mooring available. If you do use the beach area please be sure to stay clear of the construction site both inside and outside the water.

Thanks again to everyone for your support of this project.

We will be having a work party on September 8th which will be a great time for you to plan to come help with the work party and to see the progress on the pier, docks and floats. The work party begins at 8:30 am (sign up at the beach) and will be followed by a potluck and community meeting at 4:30 pm at the beach. Hope to see a great turnout!

MASON COUNTY GRANTS PERMIT FOR DOCK

I just received a call from Mason County that our dock permit has been approved and is ready to be picked up.   I will be picking up the permit tomorrow and will be working with Tim at Lakeshore to determine start and end dates for the project.  We will begin sometime in August and should be finished in September.  As soon as I have more specific details I will provide another posting on the blog.    Thanks to everyone for getting your assessment payments in.   It will be well worth all our hard work and investment to have a nice new dock and pier.   Just in the neck of time :)

COMMUNITY PICNIC AUGUST 18th 12:00 NOON

Shorehill Estates Annual Community Picnic will be held on August 18th beginning at 12:00 noon at the beach.   Plan to come and bring your family.   Bring a dish to share: salad, chips, fruit or desserts (they're all welcome).  Don't forget to bring your own chairs.  The community will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments and drinks.

We'll have games, fabulous prizes, lots of socializing and good times for all!

Ida Simon Passed Away

Earl and Ida Simon were long time residents of Shorehill Estates who built and lived in the home now owned by the Kennedys.  Earl and Ida were valued members, neighbors and friends of Shorehill Estates.  Ida fought a long courageous fight with cancer.  Our sympathy goes out to her entire family.  A donation will be made by Shorehill Estates to the American Cancer Association in memory of Ida.

1935 - 2012

Ida Simon passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ida was born June 21, 1935, at the family home in Central Park, Washington, to Hilda and Lewis Chamberlin.

Ida married the love of her life, Earl Simon, in 1952. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Ida brought joy and laughter to those who knew her. Her passion and commitment to her children and grandchildren were her life lines. She love so many things; music, dancing and gardening. She also loved cooking and entertaining for the people she loved.

Ida and Earl eventually moved from their Hood Canal home and made their final home in Tumwater.

Ida is survived by her loving husband, Earl; daughter, Patti; sons, Michael and Ken (Lynn); daughter-in-law, Brenda; brother, Frank (Nancy); 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jimmy, Robert, John, Dwight, and Richard; son, Steven; and grandson, Krystopher.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the Red Lion Inn, 2300 Evergreen Park Drive SW in Olympia.

Donations can be made in Ida’s name to the American Cancer Society.
