I'd like to encourage the folks with properties on Baja Drive to look at the curtain drains in their area. I cleaned out the drains near the vacant properties on Baja as best as I could by hand, but there is still another 100 yards of drain that I couldn't get to.
The curtain drains are the rock-filled ditches at the bottom of the hill -- they help prevent flooding/erosion of your property and the possible undermining of the road during heavy rains.
I noticed that there is a lot of plant growth in some areas of the drains. If the drains get covered over with plants they will lose some functionality, which could be a problem in a big storm.
The drains are still working at this point, as near as I can tell. It would be good to keep them working!
I would like to acknowledge the three guys (Pete, Chris and Paul) who scrubbed the water tanks, made access to the tanks easier by weed eating and brush clearing AND did a long list of repairs.... Even though you didn't see them, they did the work of about 6 people.
